From the founding to now
1857
Founding of the one-man business S. Spitz at the Linz location by Salomon Spitz.
1918 - 1935
1918: The SPITZ company produces liqueurs, schnaps and rum in Linz-Urfahr and markets these regionally.
1935: SPITZ-products are now produced in the Attnang-Puchheim factory. The product and marketing range is extended by fruit juices and syrups.
1945
1945: A new start and reconstaruction of the company in the turmoil of the collapse. Councillor of Commerce Walter Scherb takes over management of the company. The product range once again includes all kinds of spirits and fruit juices.
1952/1953
1952/53: Councillor of Commerce Walter Scherb buys the SPITZ company from Viktor Spitz and runs it as a limited commercial partnership.
1955 - 1970
1955: After the fall of the demarcation lines in Austria, the marketing range is extened to the entire fedral territory. Until the end of the sixties, systematic expansion of distribution to all of Austria. Reaching the position of market leader in the spirits sector (fruit schnaps, plum brandy, certain liqueurs), as well as fruit juices (syrups).
1970: The Attnang-Puchheim production plant obtains the form of a company with limited liability and henceforth operates under the name of S. SPITZ Gesellschaft m.b.H.
1970 - 1980
1970-75: Diversification of the traditional production and marketing range towards preserves, mustard and ketchup.
1975-80: Construction of a factory for baked goods and start of production of wafers, ladyfingers and cakes.
1989 - 1996
1989/90: Construction of a bread factory and extensive expansion of confectionery production.
1995: Acquisition of a PET bottle plant.
1996: Expansion of the baked goods section. The entire operation is certified according to ISO 9001.
2000 - 2003
2000: Construction and commissioning of a new plant for the production of chocolate coated wafer curls. Modernisation of the ketchup production and bottling plant, enabling the production of an unpreserved product and bottling of a large variety of containers (from 320 ml to 1.5 kg standing tubes).
2003: Construction and commissioning of a new Tetra Pak plant for filling Tetra Rex cartons (package sizes 0.5 l 0.75 l and 1.0 l with screw-cap).
2004/2005
2004: POWER HORSE Energy Drinks GmbH is founded. (turnover 24.6 m., 55 employees from 15 nations)
2005: Investment in a new filling technology for non-alcoholic beverages (Aseptic Filling)BioWärme GmbH is founded.
2006
2006: Commissioning of the antiseptic filling plant for PET bottles

2007: Spitz celebrates its 150th anniversary of existenceHolding of 51% in the Gasteiner Mineralwasser GmbH
2008: Commissioning of the BioWärme Spitz GmbH for the purpose of sustainably and eco-friendly covering the internal energy demand and supplying local heating for the Attnang Puchheim region.
