Ecological impact

Biomass is a constantly renewable and climate-neutral indigenous energy source. No more CO² is released during its combustion than previously absorbed by the tree from the air. The Spitz Group makes a valuable contribution to climate protection through the use of biomass.

Facts and figures for climate protection

BioWärme Attnang-Puchheim GmbH produces 54,000 MWh of heating and 4,500 MWh of eco-energy annually. That corresponds to annual savings of 2.8 million litres of heavy fuel oil and 600 tonnes of butane gas. Converted into CO² emissions, S. Spitz Gesellschaft m.b.H. has therefore been able to reduce its annual output by around 14,000 tonnes.

Economic impact

BioWärme Attnang-Puchheim GmbH contributes significantly to security of employment at the company location.

Calculable energy prices provide the basis for supporting and maintaining the international competitiveness of Austrian products.

As the first European food producer to actually put such a plant into practice, Spitz has performed significant pioneering work and still plays a significant pioneering role in this sector.
